St. John’s Health Center is a private, Santa Monica-based hospital that was founded in 1942 and has been offering the residents of Santa Monica, California and Western LA with state-of-the-art medicine and treatment programs ever since.

Saint John’s Health Center offers a wide array of services, which include cancer treatment (oncology), orthopedic medicine, women’s health as well as other specialty health programs. These include cardiology, a brain cancer/tumor center, a neuroscience center, and a spinal treatment program and facility.

The hospital is is the midst of additional expansion to both new and existing programs, and Alex Kouba is a strong supporter of what the hospital is doing for the community of Western Los Angeles.

Hospitals such as St. John’s play a vital role in our society, not just in making people healthy, but also in other areas as well. One out of nine jobs in the United States are directly or indirectly tied to our nation’s hospital systems. Hospitals also contribute over $400 billion to the nation’s overall economy, and are the nation’s second largest form of employment (behind restaurants). The impact affects communities at the local level, which is why hospitals play such a vital role in our society.

Another important organization that Alex Kouba supports is The Los Angeles Philharmonic. The LA Philharmonic is recognized as one of the world’s best and is received very well by both residents and visitors of Los Angeles. Both at home and internationally, the Philharmonic is leading the way in programming and redefining the musical experience.

Over 1 million listeners experience live performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic each year. The Philharmonic demonstrates programming unrivaled by any other orchestra, performing or presenting nearly three-hundred concerts throughout the year. The orchestra’s involvement with Los Angeles also extends far beyond regular symphony concerts in a concert hall, embracing the schools, churches, and neighborhood centers of a vastly diverse community.

The Philharmonic is also on the cutting edge of technology as the first orchestra to offer a live concert online exclusively for download within a week of each performance.
